Hello and welcome back to infer social Services with Cyber. Very this lesson is verifying Deena's records with Dennis. Look up. I will be your instructor for this course. Trent Dayro.
Let's go ahead and begin.
So this video, we're gonna verify Deena's records. It costs multiple servers with the command line tool and it's look up.
So let's look up. What it does is queer Dina Server looks up various Deena's records. You go that look up Ah, Tripoli names a seed records or see names. You know, a couple different types. You also look up. You can set a explicit server. So we actually ran into this problem at a previous workplace where
people were able to reach
our website with a certain DINA server, but the had not updated across all DNs hosting providers.
So we actually get in contact with those who provider and get results.
So I'm gonna go ahead and bring up the Windows Command help here,
actually kind of actually see it right there won't bother with try to pull it up.
So if we just do an honest look up, look it up and then we do a question mark to just
show the different commands. Here
we look up the difference Name or I p addresses. We could set different options. We could set the,
the Queer Weaken said the type two different A records could look at sea names, mail exchange records, pointed records,
all the different types you could set explosive servers. Like if you have a local server that you have on site, you get set it to that. Or if you want to look at the upstream results compared to your local server, you can set that as well.
Look up, man. And this Look up. Did you see there is varying differences? Um,
they're generally run the same and it's look up, Dash option named You could get a server as well.
about the same sort of made pages,
so you can change the default. Poor value, actually do get more options. With the Lennox version of it,
you can go a little more in depth. Let's see if you have
I mean, you could just say even for security reasons. You do. You have your dina server on your local site running on some obscure port almost a 79 23 right? Some, some also wall one. When people are scanning your network and they're checking that 1st 10 24 ports that are most the most common
they're not going to be looking at. They're going looking for DNS Records on 53. They're not gonna be looking at doing any sort off Deena's queries on port 79 23. You know, so like that.
So you can actually look at that Is different types.
Essentially, they do the same thing that you can get a little more in depth with the boon to version
for now, because I have it set up. I'm actually gonna use my host computer, bring up command prompt here, and
testing out some different servers.
So here, we're gonna go ahead and test with two different service here. My current upstream is 1 1968 50.2051 over with. That one is my router. My default gateway.
So if we just doing an s look up, we'll see that my you'll see the Dina server address there. It's currently set,
so if we just do it www dot google dot com
IBV six address and we'll see the I P. V four address.
This is with a upstream router or dina server of one that one. That one.
That one s. So let's go ahead and set the server to a Google server, and we'll see if we could get a different result
server that this and let's www google dot com
We do get a slightly different answer, and that probably is because you could be looking at any guest. You could be seen, uh,
when and where you are. And that could be the closest server for that DNS record. Um, and also it could be load balancing across it, too. So
see, now we got a different one again. Different one again.
So it could be just load balancing, right.
But be aware of the different issues that you might come across, and you can find a couple of for websites that will query the various Deena's hosting providers as well. So if you run into external customers having issues reaching your site,
check with DNS records, sometimes it is a simple Is that
so? Hopefully we didn't actually talk about this, but I'm gonna see if you know this what's right? What is the type of record for a standard I p four host name? Look up.
So let's see if you can figure this out.
All right? If you guessed a a name. Hey. Hey,
you would be correct. You're seeing a major conical name or kind of like a, um,
like an alias. Almost Think of it. It could be used a lot of times if, like, if you have a company merger, you could have the sea name point back. Toothy main hosting provider. The main main site. Um, you know of Company Able Company be coming. Be website. Could point back to the I P address of Company A's I P address.
And I was cmx is your mail exchange records
in his Vegas. We talked about verifying Deena's records with the Ennis look of tool.
And there's always hope you guys enjoyed the video before to see the next one
