TCP/IP Suite This lesson re-visits the TCP/IP suite and summarizes everything that was covered over the course of the module to tie all the information together. The TCP/IP suite is a general suite of communication protocols that work in conjunction to allow us to network over the Internet. Basically, it is how the Internet and networking are able to function properly The TCP/IP suite has the following components:

  • Network/Datalink Protocols: ICMP/IGMP and ARP
  • Communications Protocols: TCP and UDP
  • Ports
  • Protocols

The TCP/IP Suite is viewed relative to the OSI Model and every aspect corresponds to a different layer in this model.
