Hi shot, needy laser here.
00:06
Subject matter Expert for office 3 65 Web times That management course. And in this green cash module, we're gonna walk through the SharePoint all line navigation features and give you understanding of the site hierarchy and also go into the site
00:25
ribbon user interface.
00:28
So
00:29
what you have on the screen is a team site template,
00:34
so let's look at
00:36
the navigation as well as the site higher.
00:41
So, first of all,
00:43
at the very top
00:45
you have under your log in, you have, ah, small dashboard, uh,
00:51
where you can, of course, sign out and also personalize your own setting
00:58
to the right. You have the sight settings for office 3 65 So, as you can see, you can add a page within this team site. You can add it after, which includes your standard list and libraries.
01:11
You can also change the look. You can go into the site settings or the behind the scenes of the site
01:18
and also the getting started, which are the tiles that are shown from left to right.
01:25
The getting started tiles
01:29
are designed to basically provide you with shortcuts to get you up and running and get to start.
01:36
Once you are complete with the tasks in the getting started section,
01:41
it is okay to remove
01:44
these towels from the page via the removed. This hyperbole,
01:48
but this gives you a quick primer to get up and running. So let's look at the other navigational elements on the page.
01:56
We've covered the setting section,
02:00
but let's also look at the quick launch bar on the far left hand side of the page.
02:06
The quick launched bar is utilized to provide hyperlinks to list libraries, sub sites and pages that are commonly accessible for all users on the site.
02:19
So you, as the Web content manager, you have the ability when you create a new app, such as a library, to include that on a quick launch to provide easy access to this particular list for library.
02:37
So as we have here, there's a human resource is sub site that is included on the quick launch bar.
02:46
Now let's go into the top link bar. The top link bar spans from left to right.
02:53
And since I have administrative access to the site,
02:58
uh, the edit link, uh, hyperlink actually shows up where I can
03:02
add additional
03:05
links to this toppling bar is important to note that the type toppling bar
03:12
enables constant managers to link to sub sites
03:17
to list to libraries. But it's commonly used for
03:23
uh, listing
03:25
sites that will be access across this particular area.
03:30
So if you, for example, when it's too late to
03:34
ah leave request form, you can use the topless bar for that purpose, but commonly is for, ah, sites and sub sites. So what I have here is a sub site called Human Resource is.
03:49
So let's go into that to demonstrate the site hierarchy.
03:54
As you can see at the very top H R
03:59
appears. So we are currently within the HR site.
04:05
And of course, it has the getting started a section as well.
04:11
Now, on the quick lowest bar
04:13
for
04:14
the human resource is site. There's a document library called Project Tat. There's also a new higher forms.
04:25
Ah, document libraries Well,
04:28
so it's important to note that from top level sight to sub site, you can have different quick lost items. You can also have a different top link bar.
04:41
So if I was to
04:44
go to my settings
04:49
and go to site settings.
04:56
You have the behind the scenes a sw, far a CZ,
05:00
the
05:01
settings and administration features that make up your SharePoint online team site.
05:10
So
05:11
each areas group based on common features of functionality. So if I wanted to change the title description in Logo, for example,
05:19
I can go into the look and feel section, and it's important that you get familiar and just walk through this section so that you understand
05:30
each in every area so that you can quickly manage content pages and sites within your office. 3 65 environment
05:41
So we were just going through the, uh, quick clot. So let's go it too quick left under the look and feel section of sight setting.
05:55
And, as you can see
05:57
for the human resource, is site because, as we mentioned,
06:01
the home page has a different quick lots.
06:05
I can set various headings. I can add navigation links
06:11
or I can change the order
06:14
that's going to change border.
06:21
And if we want new, higher forms to be at the top,
06:26
then we would just select the order in the drop down
06:30
lists that we have
06:31
and then select okay,
06:34
and as you can see new higher forms are
06:39
has been moved to the top on the actual quick loss bar, so you get to see your changes in real time.
06:46
If I wanted to add a new heading, for example,
06:49
I can type in the Web address,
06:59
and I'm going to add it a basic Web address.
07:02
I use msn dot com
07:04
and
07:05
give a heading of news.
07:12
So as you can see,
07:14
you have the news heading,
07:16
which is hyper linked to MSN, that calm
07:23
so in review. The quick launch allows you to customize
07:28
what
07:29
commonly used list libraries or sites that you want your users to see.
07:35
This
07:36
eliminates the needs and navigate and find your way around different areas of the site. It cuts down on help desk tickets and calls and overall troubleshoot because you put the areas that are commonly used on this particular quick launch
07:56
bar.
08:01
So if we go back
08:05
to the breadcrumb,
08:07
which allows you to navigate back in context of where you are within the site,
08:18
we're currently in the site settings panel again,
08:20
and we'll take a look at the top link park
08:24
under looking field.
08:26
So the top link bar for this sub site of human resource is is set
08:33
to inherit the length from the parents site.
08:37
So if you want it to have a separate hierarchy or toppling bar
08:43
to show different pages in list within a specific sub site, then you would stop inheriting links. Here.
09:03
You also have sight libraries and list underside administration, which will give you a dash for view
09:11
of the list and libraries within this site and gives you a hyperlink to create new content.
09:16
So if we want it to
09:18
creating content, we would select this hyperlink,
09:22
and
09:24
this would give you the ability to not only create
09:28
an additional app,
09:28
but you can also create new sub sites and also give you a report on what subsides currently exists.
09:41
So navigating back to the home page,
09:46
as you can see
09:48
in review, you have your top link bar,
09:50
which you can
09:52
designate what sites and pages and or commonly used
09:58
documents within the hierarchy. You want your uses to see
10:03
on the quick launch bar. You have another area where you can quickly provide and customize
10:13
list libraries and sites and provide different headings to ah route
10:16
commonly used features and functionality that you want your user community to utilize.
10:24
You have your settings panel, which gives you a quick launched bar or quick lost area.
10:31
Thio Complete commonly used task. You have the getting started with your sight,
10:39
which
10:39
gives you the top six
10:43
most used features that
10:46
content managers encounter when starting a sight. So this was all based on questions and feedback, and now this is available within SharePoint online.
10:58
So these are the navigation of elements.
11:01
I'm shoddy. Laser subject matter Expert for Office 3 65 Web Content Management course I'll see you in the next month.
