subject matter expert for Office 3 65 Web content management course And in this screen cast modern. We're going to look at the security and permission for SharePoint on Live to get you up to speed on how security actually works and the task we're gonna walk through and complete.
00:23
We're going to first navigate to our sub site. We're going to create a custom group.
00:28
We're going to add a user and also delete that user from the group.
00:32
So first of all, let's go to our sub site.
00:38
Human resource is,
00:41
and we'll take a look at the users and groups within this particular site.
00:46
Now the
00:49
security has been set up for this particular site collection
00:53
to inherit permissions from the top level or parents site.
00:59
So let's go to the site setting
01:03
and under the Users and Permissions Group
01:08
on the top left portion of this site, Settings Page,
01:15
we're going to look at people in groups.
01:21
First thing we're going to do is select Maur under the groups
01:26
heading on the quick launch,
01:30
and this will bring the full view
01:34
of the groups within this particular site.
01:37
So by default
01:38
you have your
01:40
members,
01:42
which
01:42
enable you to
01:45
at it end or contribute to existing list
01:51
and libraries and APS. You have owners which have full control,
01:57
and you have visitors, which is generally redoing permissions. These will be the three that will focus off for the context of this particular module, of course.
02:08
So let's go into the members group
02:15
so the members group
02:16
what we'll do.
02:19
Let's take a look at the drop downs you have new where you can add users to this group,
02:27
and we'll take that particular step in the moment. Actions.
02:31
Well, we can email select the users,
02:36
calling message selector users or remove uses from group.
02:40
And we have the setting so we can look at the group settings, permissions or make this group to default for this site.
02:50
Let's add a user.
02:53
What I'll do
02:55
is enter
02:59
an account that I created, and, as you can see, it has resolved and
03:05
found this particular account
03:16
answering Cem
03:19
descriptive text,
03:21
which you would use,
03:23
uh, select share.
03:25
So now, as you can see,
03:29
this account has been added to this particular group.
03:36
Let's go back to groups
03:40
and look at
03:44
owners to take a look at these settings,
03:53
so as you can see, you can specify
03:58
what you want this route name to be, and it can easily be changed,
04:09
so we'll change the name to human resource is content managers,
04:20
and you can assign a group owner,
04:27
and it's important to note that only one user or group can be the owner. I recommend that you select group because of one individual leaves your organization.
04:36
Then you have to go in and make those edits.
04:41
Then you have your group settings.
04:44
So if you want specific members or information workers to view the membership of the group, you can select group members for this
04:54
And who can edit the membership that would be
04:57
group owners.
05:00
You can also designate membership requests
05:04
to go to a specific administrative email
05:09
in order to manage request for this particular
05:15
So select Okay. And as you can see,
05:17
we have
05:19
modified the owner's group to be content managers.
05:28
So if you want to delete the user from
05:30
the team's Sight members group,
05:34
we go back to team site members. On our quick lot.
05:39
We select the user
05:42
and we go to the actions tab
05:45
and we select remove users from group.
05:54
And as you can see,
05:56
that user has been removed.
06:00
So we've covered creating
06:03
editing existing group. So now let's go
06:09
into creating a custom
06:14
go to more will select new
06:17
and new group
06:32
and content creators. I'm gonna add some descriptive text
06:36
in the about me section,
07:01
so I'm going to leave the settings is default for this particular task
07:06
and select create.
07:11
As you can see, content creators has been added to the human resource is site.
07:20
If we go up to the home page,
07:26
so answer the questions. Have these changes been added to our
07:32
top level sight? Because all the changes were made in the sub site,
07:40
you can see that these groups are here is well,
07:50
so in review.
07:53
We've
07:56
edited an existing group.
07:59
We've added a user to an existing group.
08:03
We have created a custom group
08:05
and we've lost the deleted the user from the group.
08:11
It's important to note that when permissions are not inherited, the changes that should make will remain at the human resource of sight and not cascade throughout
08:22
the site collects. So when you break inheritance foresight, it's important to understand where and how you're doing that in order to properly manage your sight.
