Hello, Siberians. I'm Kelly Hander Han and welcome to session Wednesday. This week we're gonna be discussing decimal toe binary Hexi decimal conversion. And this will be very helpful for you in various ways.

When we go into the topic next week about submitting, it's very helpful to know binary beforehand because binary plays a really big part of how we split up our networks,

but also with I p V six on the horizon. Hexi decimal is gonna be important as well. So we're gonna cover all three of those.

All right, so let's go back and let's talk a little bit about how we learned decimal, right? So if you go back, if you learn the way I did, teacher would come in and write 4000

and she'd say, OK, this is the Ones column. This is the tens column hundreds column,

So we have the reason we use this. Columns were based on 10.

10 to the zero power.

Anything to the zero power is one, eh? So we start with a zero power one, then this is 10 to the first into the second,

10 to the third and so on. So that's where I get my columns. And then she'd say, Well, this has 41 thousand's 51 hundred's, seven tens and nine ones. It's how we learn decibels. Okay, so we're gonna learn binary much the same way we learned, decimal.

All right, so the way we convert this decimal number two binary,

1 10 1 11 to 11. All right, so we said that's the number to 11. So, to 11 if we translated into binary, that's what we get. Now, the thing to understand about Hex A desk.

Hexi Decimal is based on 16 as its number insisted.

So what we have to look at with hexes. The numbering system contains any of these valid numbers.

eight plus fours. 12. We don't have a 12 but what we do, we have That would be like 10 11 12. So value is see if that makes sense. You know, we're so used to decimal. It's a little bit odd to go, you know, 789 A. But,

we run it through binary, and we get 1101011 Then we split that up into two sections. Evaluate each section independently, and for the value of 2 11

So I hope this has been helpful with for you. You may want to practice up a little bit. Windows has a scientific calculator that you can use to sort of test to make sure your calculations air. Good.
