this subset 5 to 3. Rookie to configuration.
I'm trendy. Airline out your structure for this course. That's, you know, one or the routing protocol features. We looked at distance vector protocols, and I probably would take a look at Britain, be to this episode. We're actually gonna get into how to configure the separated subjects that we have in our lab with reverie too
rejected. We're gonna configure written me to on our routers in the 11. Also, we're gonna throw it on that layer three, switch number three.
But first, what is the administrative distance for a rip V to route, See if you can remember.

And just like the last time you start lab diagram. If you notice I kept the layer three, switch off to the right. We still have our
routing enabled on switch three.
We'll go through each router configured to make sure that we both have the same base. Can fix it up with the I P addresses.
Ah, and such that. So I wanna make sure that you know, we're not missing anything that you guys air covered as well
are. So we'll get into rip configuration. So first thing to do, we'll get into global config mode. Just do router space rip. That'll bring us into the router config mode.
We're gonna do version, too, because remember, we have, Ah,
a classless network, I guess you say, um, we're using view us. Um,
So the using version one would not work because it would throw the entire 10 dot network into
one route, which would would not work at all. Ah, so the network command would that actually does, Is it identifies which interfaces will use Rigby too.
By that we mean, if you do 10 network that tender 000 that's gonna cover all interfaces
that have the 10 dot network start.
And the network command is a class full network. So 10 dot slash 8172.16 would be, You know,
you have to do a slash 16 1 91 68 That one would be
class sees we'd have to use a slash 24 network command.
So the cool part is we're
We have a villa Som, we've subdivided the 10 dot network,
so we only need one command we'll need to do network 10.0
So what's rip is actually enabled what it does. It advertises about the sudden it's connected to that Interfaces advertises that connected routes is going to send those routing updates through the interfaces with the proper I P addresses from a number command. Then it's gonna listen in process updates on those interfaces well,
and go ahead and list the routes that it receives in the routing table.
So go ahead and bring up our party session here
So if we just do what you can do a show run road quick so we can take a look at what we have.
So we go through, we have a host name. We have our enable password.
We have the domain name. We have a user name I p version recitation version, too.
So we're on Roger one. So we had the fast return. It's hooked up to the land that is 10 11 on a slash 24.
Our serial link has connected the router. Three
is 10 1 for one on a slash 30.
This link is not being used
and that was not being used as well. We have no age to be server
when we havejust are basic
So we have a right piece that we're going to go. I'm gonna go ahead and enable rip on this so will go into global configuration. Do router rip
and was thrilled that network command in. And if we had a question mark,
just we want the network number. There's a class full network, I d.
And well, I'm gonna go ahead and plug the consul port into Router to we'll go to go pushing under that.
All right, let's see. We should be on router to do a show run.
Make sure you get a swell

We have the 10 1 network, which is on rudder one. And then we have this one writer to remember. We have the administrative distance of 1 20
and we're one hop away from that network.
So remember administrator Distance and metric.
And it's a sand via the router. One interface. And this is via the router to interface.
So wait, we're sitting in the middle here, shoot are paying up to the Kelly VM send 11 50 success. And let's send it down to the bottom at your boon to laptop one,
Somebody go ahead. And what the issue comes into was trying and pain that layer three switch. See what happens
Okay, so here's where we run into the issue. Because if you remember last time we had a static route to Villa and 30 and 50 or the 500.3 and five networks,
and right now, the packets,
they don't know where, so Because that we're going to hear
we don't have a gateway last resort set. So it these packets actually don't already go.
So what we're gonna do is with the plug in to switch three, and we're gonna enable er rip routing on that as well. So we go ahead and play the consul port over into that one.
So you guys just want to see a show? I think interface brief.
We have a deal. And 30 50
one. So this is the one. That's
jacket you could kind of say is connected to the router. Three.
So let's go ahead and enable.
We're gonna do remember, it's switch three. So we gotta do I p routing
and to enable. Routing on here
should be already enabled, but it doesn't hurt to do it again.
Now, let's go to broader rip
So gets enable the same way. So I'm gonna go ahead and plug back into switch three here.
All right, that was round or three. Swiss three.
So now if we do a show I p routes, let's see if we have the 10 3
and 10 5 Here we go. So we have both of them. Now we're getting the routing updates from switch three. So 10 15.50 ping.
Good to go. So let's try a three day at 15.
So we have pained all of the host machines Now, um,
if for some reason, like you're singing Okay, well, why don't we try that one end? You can Absolutely.
Um I'll bring up the Kelly VM real quick.
But the way you're looking at is if if one device didn't have a route set, it would go to the device and then come back or get to the egress point say, I don't know where to go from here. I have no route to, you know, the network that I just sent from,
Um, that's where these routing protocols are. Phenomenal. Look how fast we were able to set this up.
All right, so I'm gonna just bring this in,
okay, Let's do a thing. I'm just going to the very clear and we're just going to go for 10. 12 dots
and we were successful. Was tried the
were successful and drive you in 50
successful so we can hit every machine. Now, we have really, truly configured a full on network with separate sub nets and different routes. I mean, we have
all these different things that we can sit here.
The cool thing to we could do a show I have here out,
It's only gonna show us those rip enabled routes, if that's what you're just curious. If you just want to look at those,
um, so if, like, if you get into a large
network and you bring up sh i p round it's just pages, pages, pages of networks. Wallace is too much. I just want to look at, uh, ribbon able to rouse her e i j a reputed to do that as well.
So what? We've been able rib. We set up our networks. We've tested all the pings
we have, routing updates going through. I was gonna go and minimize party will move on to the next slide.
It's really more configuration again
s So what we can do is set passive interfaces on this.
So the cool thing about this we would not want to do on
what a passive interviews does, is it?
It'll advertise the sub net on that interface,
but will not advertise routing updates through that interface. Hopefully, that makes sense. It's not gonna advertise
to that sub net will advertise that it has that sub net on. It's like it has a network that has a route to that network.
So one thing that we you might want to do this on to avoid people sniffing your network. Giving information is you said it as a passive
Um, so I'm gonna go ahead and cause we don't want to set this on the land interface for Router three, remember?
Because we're connected to that later. Three switch. So it's kind of acting as another router. Somebody go ahead and plug in a router one, and we'll set the passive interface for the lander out.
All right, so I realized that we were
not recording my putties sectional time.
I'm going to go back through this real quick. Uh, so we're gonna go ahead and set the passive interfaces for the land side,
uh, interface meaning the side of the computers are connected to
because passive interface will basically say, advertise this sub net. But don't send routing out updates through the interface connected to this subject.
So I could figure we're gonna goto Router
and passive interface. FAA 00 That is one connected to the land.
Nor thing we can do here we can do passive interface default.
And Renee, no passive

Um, this basically says
it's It's the best practice. That way, someone can just hook up to an our poor Do you know what being shot on port? Hopefully,
um, and start getting routing updates. This basically says all interfaces air passive
all none of them are actually receiving updates. And then you run the no passive interface on that serial length that you know, is connected to a router. Three.
So anything we can do here, they're on the maximum paths, command. So what does does is if you have equal routes to a sub net.
What it will do by default is balanced load over those different links.
And again, it doesn't have any concept of speed. Meaning If you have a gig link to the left and a fast Internet to the right,
it's going to load balance over both of those. And the faster than it will get
will be slower than the gig link.
So what we can do is you can just say maximum paths one.
And what that does is
it basically says there's only one path to a seven it
by default. There is four maximum pants.
so we're gonna just go ahead and send the one right now.
So north thing we can do here
is the no auto summary
then, which is basically says, Is it auto? Summer ization makes the it turns the villas of sub nets and do one class will network meaning again that we're all using the 10 dot network through the entire network. This would be bad because it would be advertising tender 000 slash eight.
That's right, the entire network. And everybody would be screaming Hey, I have an accent. I ever out for this. No, I haven't access to routes. This,
So what we've done on Router One?
well, I thought it was recording. I went ahead and set the I plugged in on fast Internet 01 a link to my SoHo router
and set an I P address on it and ran it. No, shut down. And I ran the
gateway of last resort to that interface to my home network router.
Uh, so what's it gonna looks like here is, You know, we put a normal
i p address on that interface, but I used d h e p from my soul router. So that automatically pulled an interface or an I P address for that interface. Right? Randy no shut. So that way it can communicate with solar router is connected. It's working.
And from there what you can do You remember the I P route 000 This is setting the gateway of last resorts. And then this is what I ran on the other one.
So that way, it's saying, send all information to
that brings us on to the next one here. Someone of minimized putty
if they won't forget to bring it back up to record.
so there we just set the default route too.
mine is actually 1 91 succeeds. Start one.
What we're gonna do is we have that connected to a router. One.
So what we're gonna do is say we're gonna do that default information, originate. And now Roger one is gonna advertise through its rip updates that hey, I have let me be a gateway of last resorts. Send your traffic to me. I can route it.
so I'm gonna go ahead and bring the pud decisions. Time I remembered.
So now hopefully we ran that default Information originates in the router rip uh,
router one. Someone do a show i p route and hopefully we have a gateway last resort, and with us does I realize that's not the
I realize it's not rather one, but what this is saying through the commands is saying Okay, point everything to router three because Router three has a gateway
to the Internet, cause Router three received an update from Router one ST. Send everything to me.
So what kind of trickles down saying, Send everything to me, senator than me
and eventually, you know, he like the router to doesn't actually know that router one is sending everything out. He just knows to send everything to Router three.
So, theoretically, if we bring up the candy box now, if we paying, let's say Google's Deanna server,
Oh, you know what? I forgot?
Let me. I have to, uh, you might run into this as well if you try and do this because it's a different sub nets, I have to actually go into my so whole router configuration page and set a static route for the 10 DUP network
to the to go to this to Goto Siskel router I p address. So let me do that real quick.
I'm not going to show you how I'm doing it, because I don't want you to see my configuration.
All right, so it should be set here, So I'm gonna just get Thea Pero see if we get a ping. All right, So our Kelly boxes talking with Goebbels, the server that is
going through from router to two router 32 rather one. So my so whole router and just down the line.
So he's got a cool. Remember the first time I got Internet hooked up to my life Never goes. He was kind of cool, So hopefully you guys get that.

so to recap, we went and configured rip on our three routers. We set the default gate or the gateway of last resort on Router one to my SoHo network. And then we set the default information originates, which sends the the gateway last resort to the rest of them.
Um, from rather one. We set up rip on our layer three switch.
We've gone through Connect, Connect configured our maximum pats. We set the auto summer ization to know.
So let's go ahead and kick into the post assessment here
with what? Of these network interface I P's would send out a routing update if the network 17 to 16 00 command was used.
I think about it for a second. Think about the masks. Think about class full network masks and
all right, it would be the 217 to 16 and two that one on one at one.
Um, it's class B network meanings to slash 16 class fool. These 1st 2 AQ tents are used for the network bits.
