Hello. Welcome back to ice and you won. Interconnecting Cisco networking devices. Part one.
This is Episode 8 to 3. Password recovery. I'm trying, Darren of your instructor for this course last video one over the Iowa's file system and how to upgrade the actual I'll s
in this episode of recovering how to recover your IOS device If you forgot your password.
Like I said, we're gonna go ahead and recover one of my devices. I'm gonna pretend like, I don't know, like, the enable passport. Or maybe they have the concept port said to, ah, local username or something, and you forgot it.
You're gonna go and move into that.
But first we'll do a little throwback pre assessment here. How many bits are in a bite? I'll give you a few seconds to think about it.
All right, it is eight bits toe one bite
and go ahead and move into the password to cover here. So the basic steps here, we're gonna go ahead boot into Rahman. We're gonna either you can remove your flash if you want to, or there is certain keyboard combination you can hit. Ah, no pause. Break is one of that I hit for mine
That will bring you into rum on if you hit it quick enough when it's booting up
from there, we're gonna change the com frig to zero x 2142 which tells us to ignore the envy ram, which remember, stores the starter configuration.
Then you go ahead just Sunday, reset command to it or just hit. Just unplug the power, plug it back in. At that point, if you remove the flash memory, you need to ensure that the flash memory is back in because it needs an eyeless image to boot into.
Once it loads up, you'll go through. I'll show you it's going to ask you if you want to do the initial configuration, you're gonna know,
Uh, from there, we'll just change. You could figure register back to zero x 21 on two, which is the default, and we'll just copy the running configured to the starter. Configure will have a blank configuration that we can use again.
And I'm gonna go ahead and just do a reload on it real quick.
And once it gets into the actual reload, we're gonna I'm gonna hit, pause, break
she couldn't get it to work here.
Okay, In case you're curious, I actually had to hold the control pause. Break button
s. So that's what got it in for me. So here, we're gonna go in and change the con frag.
Forget we don't have out of complete now.
and we got type will see con frag con
and we'll go to zero x 2142.
So give us a minute to load up
All right, here's where the initial configuration is. We're gonna hit No.
All right, so here we can just enter. So no, if we do a show run,
completely blank running configuration.
Well, if you look in the start of configure,
this is gonna useful, because if you have a very large started, compare what you just forgot the password.
You can do a show, start copied the entire configuration. Just remove the passwords to whatever you want pasted in there,
and so I'm just going to say I just changed my host name.
you know, if you wanted to, you could do a copyright start now it would actually overwrite. That's original start, configure.
But I still have all my stuff in there somewhere. Going to anyway. So we'll go in and change. Configure register back to the default of 2102
man, We copied our started configured
and we'll just do a reload.
And then I'm gonna go ahead and close out party, cause
everything will come back up. We'll be in the proper system and everything will be The passwords will be reset. And if you did, you save your started. Can fix. You can use that.
So the episode recap we went and we remove the started config. Or you could just remove the password if you want for the device.
A quick post Sussman here, which is the configure register for to boot without envy. Ram, I'll give it a few seconds.
All right? It is the zero x 2140 to remember to boot into Rahman. It is zero x 2100
and the next step. So we're gonna go ahead and take a look at the configuration files of Iowa s as always, if you guys have questions need help. Feel free to shoot the message. Otherwise, thank you for watching this episode and look forward. A senior. The rest of them.
