This lesson offers an overview of risk management. Risk management is the process of identifying, assessing, mitigating or transferring risk. Its main goal is the reduction of probability or impact of risk. When assessing risk:
  • Identify and valuate assets
  • Identify threats and vulnerabilities PSE (Preliminary Security Evaluation)
When analyzing risk, be sure to look it from both a qualitative and quantitative value. Regarding risk mitigation and response, steps can be taken to reduce, accept, transfer and avoid risk. However, rejecting risk is not an acceptable course of action.
