Description
Nslookup Lab For our next lesson, we demonstrate Nslookup.  Computers can’t translate and don’t understand domain names, and humans don’t remember numbers well.  So there needs to be a process that resolves that communication shortfall and provides the IP address which is numbers when a domain name is requested. Nslookup is a command line utility that helps you “resolve” the public IP address of a given domain.  This lesson examines how to use the Nslookup utility to perform a forward lookup, which is when only an IP address is known AND a reverse lookup, which is when only the domain name is known.  You’ll see that Nslookup also provides DNS information, “all” the known IP address that could be in use by a given domain name.  We’ll demonstrate the options Nslookup uses and explain what those outputs reveal.
