Network Devices: Routers & PoE

Next, we move on to how the router function translates IP address.

We’ll use a SOHO network diagram to demonstrate how this works including IP addressing, subnet mask. We’ll explain why the router has two IP addresses, how the private IP works in relation to the public IP, what functions each allow, what routing tables are, and what the router connects to to make that happen.

PoE means Power over Ethernet. This comes into play for networks that need to send signals through an Ethernet cable but need additional power to run it.

Active hubs use PoE, are powered by RJ45 connectors, are supported by a Switch cable, and confirm that power is transmitting between the two endpoints.
