Linux Tools Lab (part 2) Resolv.conf, Nmap, Nsswitch

This lesson focuses on three commands in the Linux environment:
  • Resolv.conf
  • Nmap
  • NSSwitch
Nsswitch.conf is a directory file and tells all sorts of directories and servers from which information can be accessed. Resolv.conf is the main resolution file in a DNS server. Nmap is a tool that is used to scan a network and see what services are being given out and shows which ports are open. These tools, used simultaneously allow hackers to access a wealth of information on a network.
