Implementing Proper Safety Procedures: ESD

ESD stands for electronic static discharge, computing devices and their components ARE NOT electric shock friendly, they can be 2000-3000 bolts of electricity which can terminate the functionality of any device. You’ll learn about grounding and why it’s important to preventing the destruction of electrical devices and components.  Electromagnetic wrist straps are the most common tool used to ground ourselves and prevent static electricity from creating a spark that can hurt us or damage the device we're working on.  So we’ll demonstrate how to use and attach this tool for maximum safety. Other ways in which we can prevent static electrical shocks is to "self-ground," and we’ll demonstrate how that should be set up.  And there is equipment grounding where a piece of equipment is placed on the ground such as a server rack that grounded to the floor.
