Description
DNS Records This lesson focuses on DNS Records which consist of the following:
  • A: Address Record; Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN)
  • AAAA: IPv6 address record; lets us know a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN)
  • CNAME: Canonical name (e.g., salesdoc.cybrary.local)
  • MX: Mail exchange; allows client to connect to a mail server for a domain (eg cybrary.it)
  • PTR: Pointer; this is what lets the DNS servers do reverse lookups, tells IP addresses
