Description
DHCP Overview and Static vs Dynamic This lesson covers Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, which provides automatic IP addressing, subnet mask and default gateways. DHCP functions on broadcast which only goes to devices and components within a specific broadcast domain so they won’t propagate over a router. It is important to remember there is also an APIPA address. APIPA stands for Automatic Private Internet Protocol Addressing. This is what we will get on a client if DHCP fails to give us an IP address.
