Dealing with Innapropriate Content

This lesson deals with the fundamental so of handling inappropriate content. There are steps we can take to secure and transport that information to the appropriate sources without compromising the data or ourselves.

First response is the first action to take. It entails 3 steps
Monitor and record as part of the Identify step. Then report to the appropriate channel in the Report step. And finally we need to Preserve our findings in the Data Preservation step. We’ll discuss each of these steps and examine the procedures you should perform.

After the first response, we move to Documentation, these are security policies, acceptable usage policies and other instruments that outline acceptable and unacceptable behaviors which should already be established, distributed and acknowledged. They are always considered written, “Living” documents that bear the signature of every staff member, user of company resources.

Next we have the “Chain of custody” step, this is the procedural process that provides accountability for and security of any evidence and it assures the integrity of any evidentiary materials is maintained through the life cycle of the event/incident from the point/moment of discovery forward.
