Hello and welcome back to the office. 3 65 Migration primer Course
00:05
I'm your instructor, Jim Daniels, and today we're going to be a model for exchange online. We're gonna cover a lesson to cut over migration.
00:15
In this lesson, we're going to discover what a cut over migration is and when it's recommended.
00:21
A cut over migration requires on Premise Exchange 2003 Born.
00:27
It requires less in 2000 mailboxes,
00:30
although Microsoft recommends less than 150.
00:34
This is a big variance.
00:36
Uh, not quite so sure. Why is 2000 and then 1 50?
00:42
But this is what Microsoft recommend, so the max is up to 2000 boxes.
00:47
But if you have anything over 150 it's recommended to do a different migration method.
00:53
It moves. All of your mailbox is at once.
00:56
Some notes about could ever migration
00:59
is directory sink as ready connect niece of busy. Be disabled during a cutter from migration.
01:06
You need to configure outlook anywhere, which is RPC over. Http for your own premise. Environment I look anywhere is required. It's what kind of a migration uses for communication.
01:19
You need to have your certificate on outlook anywhere from a trusted see A.
01:25
You should also add your I discover and outlook anywhere to the same sort.
01:30
Finally, for cleanup,
01:30
you need to remove non migrated mailbox users as delegates from the moderated mailboxes.
01:38
So in other words, if you have some users or some mailboxes, their delegates and they're not part of your migration plan, remove those delegate access rights prior to moving the cut over migration. Now let's take a look at the actual flow of cut over migration.
01:56
This chart is direct from Microsoft.
01:57
They have a lot of steps that are optional, but this is what they recommend for a successful cut over migration.
02:06
Step one. Always communicate the changes to your users
02:09
and verify your domain within your office. 3 65 tenants
02:15
Step to prepare your servers, and you make sure outlook anywhere is configured and working correctly.
02:22
Also, because that, you know, migration servers can't detect
02:24
whether one premise out of the red terror groups are security groups. It can't provisions any migrated groups as a security group in office. 3 65
02:32
If you wanna have security groups, an officer 65 you must first provision
02:38
an anti Melon Able Security Group in office 3 65 before starting the kettle over migration.
02:45
Next, the administrator will connect office 3 65 to the on premise mental system.
02:50
This is called creating in Migration. In point,
02:53
that administrator needs to be an admin in both office 3 65 as well as your own premise exchange environment,
03:02
then the administrator Margaret's to know boxes, bear files. The migration
03:07
grants officer 65 licenses to the migrated users.
03:13
Then the measure configures domain to begin writing email directly to office. 3 65
03:20
You verify the routing, make sure everything is good. Then you can Dooley the cut over migration batch.
03:28
After that, if you want to, you can decommission your exchange on premise servers
03:32
and completely post migration task. So you probably want to update your DNS records
03:39
to include your necks out of Discover and all of that good stuff.
03:45
After you completed post migration task, send the walking me email out to the users
03:52
That is a cut over migration and not show
03:55
so to recap.
03:57
Cut over migration is recommended for 150 or less mailboxes.
04:02
If you have 200 male bosses, it's recommended. You don't use a kind of a migration
04:06
you have to have on premise Exchange 2003 plus
04:12
and the cut over migration utilizes outlook anywhere.
04:16
