CPU Sockets

This lesson takes a more in depth look at CPU Sockets (CPUS) and where they live on the motherboard.  It’s important to know how the CPU buses and interact with the motherboard. We’ll explore the slot location, design, you’ll learn how the Plastic dual inline package different from the current chipset design and what if any limitations either design presents. PGA is a different chipset and you’ll learn what installation challenges it brings with it, what’s met by “seated,” the significance of the gold markings on the chip base relative to the arrow placement on the motherboard, and why orientation during installation must be precise.
