Hello and welcome back to I, C and D one interconnecting Cisco Networking devices, Part one This episode 514 Configuring connected routes and villains
on trend here and I'll be your instructor for this course. Last video went over the hell the router determines where to send a packet. We went through a routing process, step by step,
the seven Children recovering what the connected routes are and how it's set up. Villain routing the rotors
so their objectives were going to get some routing commands. We're gonna look at the AARP table hunter router, really get connected routes, and then we're gonna set up a router on a stick. So that's where
remember, we have a couple of the lands on a switch connected through a trunk port
So jump into the pre assessment here. Which source I p will be in the packet from pc to PC one when the packet has reached router to
so a deposit re read that question sea if you figure it out.
All right. Remember, it will be PC to the source. I p will be PC to in the destination. I p will be P C one.
But when it has reached
router to the source, Mac address will be of that of switch to
and the destination Mac will be over after two.
So we'll have diagram. If you want to take a screenshot of it, throw it off the side. We're gonna reference it. Ah, multiple times here. Just know I have my Kelly vm up the top in 10 110 slash 24
and the moon to laptop donut 10 12 then off to the right. I have two different v lance off of switch three
with the surface. And I have a raspberry pi hooked up on set of veal and 50.
Remember, you have to change on the switch ports. You have to stop them into the right. Right B line. Don't forget that,
um and then configure the whatever port you have connected to the router it configured out of the trunk port.
Then we will actually go in,
and we're gonna configure the eyepiece for the different interfaces on Router three.
The rest of them are already set for outer one and router to, and I've thrown on the I P addresses for all the different client machines in here as well.
Remember that the default gateway you're gonna set for these client machines is that of the router interface. Meaning if we take the Cali VM up at the top being 10 11 50 the default gateway would be 10 11.1 being slashed 24. And we're gonna put the 240.1
as the router. One land connected interface. Not sure what that means here in a minute. If you don't get it,
we'll jump right in with some of the commands.
So this is kind of the fundamental commands you're gonna you know? You know, you need to know on the router. Um,
the show I peer out, that's that's huge as going to show you all of the routes for the different sub nets. So if you know that you're trying to get to a certain network and your outer doesn't know about it and the default or the gateway of last resort isn't so,
this could be why your pack is not running because there's no route. That router doesn't know how to get there, so it's gonna drop that packet
show I p AARP What's that's gonna do is
show you the little table
of the I P address, the hardware address and where that interface was that it came in on.
Then you guys should know the show interfaces, interface status, that kind of thing. Then you should know as well how to configure a i p address on interface that will go through that will sign a few of them on the router. Three.
So what is it round?
So connected route is gonna be a sub nets that is connected through the interface. So if you look on the picture on the bottom right, you'll see a C and l that is connected and local.
So do you take 10 that one down 3 to 0 slash 24. That's a connected route that
will be a metric of zero.
Static was one will go through in the next episode.
So a static grout is actually an administrator. Configure out. So let's say you have a faraway sub net that you you know how to get there and you know that. Let's say you need to go out 0010 s so you can statically configure that to say, OK for this subject. Go out This interface
low local row is gonna be that loop back around for the interface. I P address and routing protocols is the way that they dynamically learned routes. So that way, you're not admit your net engineer doesn't have to go in and configure every single route.
Ah, you could dynamically learn them in that way, if a link goes down on the routes, that's gonna automatically adjust and send it through a different route.
Um, it's gonna figure out, you know, you could do load bouncing. So are like I said, there's a table, um, list that I peed a Mac to interface mapping,
right? So how we could clear that everything do a clear I p AARP and undo the Appy address
cleared out. Let's say that for some reason, they're having some kind of I p conflicts where maybe your d a. C P. Server got Mr Made its two of mine. They're they're both the signing I, p's and,
um so you can clear that out. You can use out of the troubleshooting step to see if that I p k keeps coming out of there. You know, if you if it's
you're seeing that a peace somewhere else in the network. They've seen it there and clear amount. See what's going on.
Ah, the default is a four hour timeout or 14,400 seconds, since that's how it's labeled in the command.
So you want to change that? You could do a I p space our space Time out. Space
200 for 202nd. So is in seconds.
we'll jump right into getting our row as her a road on a stick. So here's what we're gonna route between v. Lance, Right?
So remember than the we talked about it before were you could use one link for each of the land. Um, you could, you know, a sign and I pee in each V land for that.
It's not smart to d'oh. It's, um, no, consume all your reports on your router.
Take, for example, my 18 40 ones there.
They only have to fast Ethernet ports.
Um, without any issue with cards, said I would have, you know, one or two B lands, depending upon when I help links.
So what we can do is to utilize the v Lance from a kind of switch between the router.
Um, and that's what we called around on a stick or rose. So as one length for all the lance so we have to do is well, actually create sub interfaces for each re land under the physical interface that is connected. Thio.
So let's say the on the router fast. Internet 00 is connected to the trunk link on the switch so we can do,
you know, interface fat season at zero slash 0.10.
Ah, for all save you intend the 0.10 doesn't actually have to correspond to the villain, but it's just best practice to do that. And then what? You actually get into that sub interface command mode? Do encapsulation debt one q than your villain I d.
So that that's where you actually assigned villain 10.
And then you will assign the API address for that villain. I d as well for that interface.
Ah, for the native villian, you can configure it on the you actually confirmed that on the physical interface.
Um, or you can configure it in a sub interface with the native command under the, uh, encapsulation command she had the native at the end.
But we're not gonna worry about the native right now. Extends. We only deal with Dillon. 30 interview and 50 in the native is just defaulted to the line one. So I have gone ahead and set up the switch. Uh, I have gone and
set up on the Kelly B. M at the top and then the Abou t 11 a bottom. They can both ping their default gateways, but there is no route set up on the routers, So that's all they're routing to.

So it'll go from the one computer gets through to switch to the router and route it and say, OK, I need to go back out to this sub interface
And what it does is what that encapsulates do not want. Q.
It's going to say OK, we need to tag this with Reliant 50 centered over that trunk port to switch.
Where are the trunk? Sees it veal and 50. It knows where to go.
How did create the router on a stick?

So to recap, we went through some routed commands. We took a look at the I P R table. We looked at the connected routes on the interfaces
and then finally, at the last, we set up the router on a stick.

interface is set for the other two routers as well. If you have this hooked up
because we're just gonna go through the next one of sending static Krauts so we can actually route from the very top to the very bottom
