Description
Chipsets: North Bridge, South Bridge & CMOS Next we look at the other important chipsets on the motherboard next to RAM, the North Bridge, South Bridge and CMOS. The North and South Bridge chips control communications between other components on the motherboard and communications to and from the motherboard.  We’ll diagram and demonstrate how this works and explain the process flow as well as all the component interactions. Then we reexamine the importance of knowing and researching the motherboards capabilities, and where that comes into play, such as with component replacement or upgrades, and revisit the function of the CMOS battery, the CMOS chipset and its relationship to the BIOS.
