Hello and welcome back to infrastructure services by cyber Very this is trending Darrow and that will be going over the categories of Ethernet copper cable today.
00:11
So this one, we're gonna be looking at different categories of standards of each of copper cable.
00:16
And if we look real quickly at the standards here for copper is you're gonna be looking at Ethernet fast, easy or not gigabit Internet and even 10 gigabit Ethernet
00:26
eso. They're pretty self explanatory. You know, Internet, uh, a standard by itself is 10 megabits per second. Fast Internet is under making beds.
00:36
Gigi's one No. One gigabit per 2nd 1000 megabits. So on the max distance is roughly about 100 meters. So you think about, you know, football field
00:46
is about accurate. It's right.
00:50
So if we look onto the copper categories here, there's we're gonna see, like cat 55 years even getting outdated. Nowadays, most places and the government have moved to cat six.
01:02
You're getting that full gig speed with the 250 megahertz band with,
01:07
um, you know, imagine, uh,
01:10
doesn't megabits right? Imagine you have
01:12
The difference is between five and six. Is the megahertz rate band with,
01:18
um, so imagine you have a 75 mile an hour freeway. It's two lanes. You can still get everyone still going 75. But now, if you convert that to a three or four lane highway, you could fit more cars on, and it's still going 75 miles an hour.
01:32
So you see the same thing with Cat six. A cat seven. And I actually haven't seen anything past cat six yet.
01:38
Um, I've never seen these 10 gigabit cables Would actually like to be kind of cool,
01:45
but relatively
01:47
easy lesson today. Real short, hopefully didn't board it too much.
01:52
Um, it should just be a quick review for body here, but we'll get into the quiz here. What is the transmission rate of a cat? Five e cable. So I will give you a few seconds to think about here.
02:07
All right, We're gonna be looking at
02:08
1000 megabits per second or a one gigabit per second. Remember the difference C five e and cat six is the megahertz that it transmits at
02:17
rights. Here's your tunnel or your pipe is a little bit bigger.
02:22
Otherwise, today we just discussed the categories and standards of copper cable. Really short review for everybody.
02:29
I appreciate your Washington's and we'll get into the fibre. One's a little bit later. Here. Thank you.

This Intermediate networking course will look at some of the more advanced tasks required to maintain a network. We will cover network tunneling, upgrading Cisco IOS to fix patches so we can avoid exploits, and other network troubleshooting tasks.
