This is less than 7.3 multipurpose cables, Part two.
We're gonna continue our discussion discussing common connectors and cables. So let's go ahead and get started. So in this lesson, we're gonna continue our discussion. We're gonna first start off talking about hard drive cables and there we're gonna talk about the Molex. They were going to discuss adapters.
So first item we want to discuss is the E se the cable. Now the e stato were external. Saito
extends the sate of bus to external devices. So when you have a desktop or a laptop computers, they had the say that connectors on the right on the outside of that system. Now, you'll not see these on newer laptops and devices. But some of the older systems had a state, a port,
And in order to use this to connect a external mass storage device, you'd have to use a Seita cable
And this, in this case and e se the cable for external mass storage devices.
The East Ada drives use connectors that looks similar to the state of connectors, but they were key differently, so you couldn't miss take one for the other.
Now the E se voc Um cable was a shooting cable, and it's left. Was our lift limitations up to two meters? This connected mass storage devices outside of the system unit or the PC, and it was hot swappable. That was another good feature.
Andi extended the Seder busto full speeds.
Now the state can cable. The Seder cable is an internal cable that's used to connect Masters devices to the motherboard. When these was first introduced, they were first connected or use rather to connect the optical drives to them on the board. But we have since used these to connect the
hard drives to them of war. The boards as well
this were placed the pedo, or the ID eee cable and the distance limitation. Here with this internal say, the cable is a one meters or three feet, so inside of a system unit or a computer case, three feet of cable should be more enough room to connect your storage devices to your motherboard.
The scuzzy connector, the scuzzy connector, is used to connect devices that uses the scuzzy system to interconnect with one another. So let me explain what that means.
Discuss. The system is a local bus type connection for connecting motive device is up to eight, and these devices were connected in Siri's or Daisy Chained together. So again, these are not around today. I'm not in production rabbit, but you may come across equipment that still uses the scuzzy connectors and scuzzy cables.
You had a host server, our host workstation,
and it had a scuzzy connector or series of scuzzy connectors in the back of him. And how these devices would connect to this is you take your scuzzy cable and connect one in to the host machine and the next into like an external tape drive device that had a scuzzy connector.
And then there was a second port or a scuzzy connector on that tape drive, and you use your cable, your second cable, to plug into that into the next device. And you would repeat this up to eight devices. That was the scuzzy system. They were Daisy chained together, and that's how they worked.
Andi is you're seeing the images. We load these how the scuzzy cables looked like
molex connectors.
The Morlocks connector is a connector that describes a two type of two piece pan and socket connection
Now Molex connectors have been around since the fifties and the sixties. It's quite a long time.
These were primarily used in appliances as well as in the auto bill industry and his other industries as well.
Now the Molex connectors, given you a description of him, are cylindrical spring metal pins that fit into cylindrical spring metal sockets.
Now these sockets and these peons, or the sockets rather were key differently. They were uniquely key, so you could only connect them one certain way, so it ensure the correct orientation. You could flip in another way and plug it in May cause damage to the mother border of device.
So you only connected the's a certain way, and they were Keith that way so
you wouldn't, um, cause damage.
The Molex connectors has anywhere from 2 to 24 contacts on them, and the most noticeable molex connectors that you'll see it in this image is the one on the bottom. In the middle is your motherboard connector that is a moment's connector. You're 20 or 24 p n motherboard connector.
So again you're molest. Connectors are a type of two piece pien and socket combination that are uniquely key, so it would ensure correct orientation
adapters. Unless they're talking with the D V I to PGA adapter. Sometimes you need to connect an older analog v g a connection to a system that only has a devi I input.
You would use a devi i to v g a connector devi i d to v g v g a d v D v. I is the digital source, whereas v g A is the analog display.
This is gonna be video on Lee Audio would need to be run separately. A separate power scores may be needed on in some cases as well. If you don't have a video signal some of the devi I to v g a manufacturer's what have a separate power supply cable, and this would be in the form of a micro USB cable that
in a micro USB port on one side and the other port into the adapter itself.
D v i t h T m. I. Sometimes you need to extend your video signal to a display that on Lee has HD am I, um it could be the case of an HD my output on a computer to a devi I input of a monitor you need to use a d v i t h d. My adaptor will give you full 10 80 p resolution.
Now, even though each demise capable of audio the D. V i. D. Is video only.
So you'd have to run your audio separately in this situation as well.
And the USB two Ethernet adapter newer model laptops are being made without Ethernet adapters. In some cases, you maybe find yourself in a situation where wireless is turned off for security purposes and it's not available. And it s so it's only connection will have is Ethernet to the network.
So in that situation, you would use an ether U S B T Ethernet adapter. Now the USB Ethernet will provide connected me to a standard 10 100 network. The USB to dot all rating is at two hundreds of 300 megabits a second, whereas the three daughter was up to gigabit speed. So in any case,
you'll be able to connect to a 10 to 100 network
even though you don't have an Ethernet adapter on your laptop.
Okay, so that is it for this lesson. We talked about hard drive cables, the East Ada and the Saito, and we took a step back in time and discussed the idea in a scuzzy.
We talked about molex, connectors and adapters that you would use in various situations.
So, first and foremost, you would need to know these for the county. A plus as well as your role, is a technician out in a few.
So this is it for this lesson, and we will see you in the next lesson.
