Hello and welcome back to Cy Berries. Microsoft Azure Administrator, A Z 103 course. I'm your instructor, Will Carlson. And this is Episode 18 as your storage account details.
In today's episode, we're gonna dive into some of the other settings and details of our storage blade. Now that we have one all set up that we can go ahead and look at,
we're gonna die right into portal here and go back to the storage account that we set up in the previous episode.
And the first thing I want to do is call your attention to some of the details here in the overview blade of our storage account,
we can see what resource group it's a part of the both the primary and secondary site availability.
We can see where those air at the subscription description I d. Is useful when you're doing anything programmatically both from the command line or with APP development.
We can also see the rest of the details about the storage account that we set up here.
One thing we talked about before, but we haven't had a chance to look at are the four different service is within a storage account, blobs, files, tables and Q's. You can click on any of the used to go down into that further blade of the storage account. But again, a Z one of three is gonna primarily be focused on blobs and files.
So the first thing I want to point out here is the geo replication. Now, remember, when we set up this storage account, we set it up to be geo redundant,
and we set the storage account in the central US region. Remember regions air just a collector or a location or, in some instances, a collection of data center facilities within a geographic region so central, US, East, us to east, US West, us, south, central, us
and there are a whole host of regions
in the azure environment. You can search for those regions online and see a row Pretty world you map Of all the locations that Azure currently has regions,
we selected the central US region to be the primary region for our storage account.
We didn't get the choice of selecting the secondary account. Azure did that for us. But our data is being replicated to this secondary region
now, in a reed access Geo redundant storage. We would be able to read our data from this region as well. I simply wanted to point this out to show you how you can see where your data is being replicated. This is important as data governance and location requirements for legal reasons come into play.
The next thing I want to briefly talk about his course and course has to do with getting access from one domain into storage that's hosted in another domain
That's not gonna be allowed by default with, uh, with websites and cores allows you the ability to go ahead and permit. That
course stands for cross origin resource sharing. I would know a little bit about it for a Z 103 exam, But again, it's not gonna be a major component here.
In addition to cores, we're gonna come down into configuration, and I came here to point out that you can make changes to the storage account once you have deployed it
to a certain extent,
we cannot change the performance to your once the storage account is already set up.
However, you can change the secure transfer and the access tear. You can also change the replication to a certain extent, you cannot change into or out of zone redundant storage. Once that has been set on the storage account, you can copy the data to a new storage account and then delete the previous.
But you cannot make that change on the storage account itself.
There's gonna be the only relevant features here in configuration for easy one of three. So the next thing I wanted to point out quickly is the fact that you can host a static website from your storage account. Now there's not gonna be any log and functionality or any dynamic functionality here whatsoever because your storage account does not have a Web server running inside of it.
All it is doing is hosting up whatever http files that you have in that storage account.
It's really simple to set up. We just had enabled.
So, like the index document name and a custom error document. If you choose to save those details and then you can begin using your blob, you are l hosting a website there within your storage account. It's really very simple. It's very low cost, ultimately, other than compared to some other options you might have.
And that's the last thing I want to cover here in the storage blade. And that's how do we get to our storage account?
The screen is a little overwhelming, but the point of the things I want to call your attention to here are these endpoints. And there are in points for all of the four storage account types, and they're gonna all follow the same pattern. It's going to be, in our case, https,
the name of the storage account,
the type of the stories that were navigating to in this case, it's blob, followed by dot corps Got windows dot net
is gonna be the same thing for files, but instead of dot blob, it's gonna be taught file.
It's gonna be important to know there may be questions about storage account your ills. It's also important to know, because ultimately, once you put things in your storage account here on Azure, you're gonna want to know how to get to it.
So in today's video, we talked briefly about what cores is and what it does for us to have a general awareness of that for easy 103 when you talked about some of the account settings that we can change for our storage account after the account is set up and some of the settings that we cannot change.
We talked about those You are l's to let us get connected into our storage account. And we also talked about posting a static Web page here in a storage account as well, Coming up next, we're gonna discuss blobs and how they get stored here and Azure.
