welcome to performing a Microsoft Windows 10 insulation.
We're continuing from the previous episode, where he performed an in place upgrade to Windows 10.
If you missed that episode, take the time to review it. Now.
In this episode will briefly demonstrate the clean install process. This is sometimes referred to as wipe and Load
as before are targeted. Upgrade to Windows 10 Professional
Now this will meet our users requirements, and this time the existing computer has a 32 bit addition of Windows eight Pro installed on it.
Our only option is to wipe the existing operating system applications and data and load Windows 10.
You can refer to the course handout for detailed descriptions of these demonstration.
Thanks for taking this course.
Step one is complete.
We've already taken a backup of entire computer
as well as we've taken a backup of the individual files that are related to the user's store than the user profile et cetera.
We'll use these file backups to restore the user's data. When we finish
installing Windows 10
Step two is complete.
We've selected Win those 10 professional
Step three is complete
despite the fact we're seeing on professional
existing operating system needs to go under this clean install or wife and replace process
because we're upgrading to 64 bit
from 32 bit addition,
we know that computer meets all the system requirements for Windows 10 64. Bit addition
particularly, this computer has a C C forbids CPU.
Now the 64 bit architectures. Those hardware can either run a 64 bit or 32 bit computers. We see
when those eight
the existing operating system on this computer
has all the latest updates. But I really don't care, because we're going to remove that insulation anyway. With the clean install process,
Step four is completed.
Download and run the media creation tool.
We have the media, we need its property license were burned, the ice Oh, image file to DVD
and we're going to use that to form the insulation.
No, we can use USB stores of ice,
or we could use pixie boot to install this operating system from a network location.
We're ready to install Windows 10
when we formed the installment complete, then will test that insulation.
And if everything is OK, then we'll activate it.
I want you to note that the user has applications installed on this computer and data and the user profiles and such
that will all go away in our white and restore the clean install process.
Well, access this DVD drive and run set up E x e within this Windows eight sessions.
It was a failure, right?
Um, the install, the 64 bit and this 32 bit operating system can only run 32 bit programs.
So we'll close this dialogue here
and reboot the computer and just boot with the install media to *** the install
that we sped the Vita video up here to make the demo move along faster.
Um, we blew past the regional installs we're going to not install. The key here is, I said, once we're satisfied, installs correct,
then we'll activate. When those 10
select the version and addition that we need
and perform that install.
Let's step aside from a demo for a moment to clarify terms.
Some may be confused about discs and partitions.
A computer contains one arm or physical disc.
A disk may contain one partition or could be divided into multiple partitions.
The type and structure are defined by the firm where the computer
might have heard terms like Master boot record or NBR petitions or
GPT Or do it partition table partitions. Those are examples.
Partitions can be formatted with a file system so the operating system can read from it or write to it
in T F s fat fat 32 ar e f s. They're all examples of file systems that are supported by Windows.
Again, the partition formats file systems
being those, uh, terms, and you could learn more about them
formatted positions that is formatted Partitions are typically assigned to drive letter,
typical windows, even DOS computers, right. Reference Dr Letters in their file pass. And the most popular one, of course, is C.
They're too partitions that I want you to be aware of.
First of the boot partition.
This is the disposition that contains when those 10 operating system files okay, this partition contains the folder see windows, the one we're used to. Or or it contains the value of the system route environmental variable that we talked about.
Now let's make this even more confusing.
The system partition contains files that initialize or boot windows.
So you see, you get it. The
files are in the system tradition and the Windows files are in the boot partition.
Um, you know, in the old days it kind of didn't matter because one single partition contained both types of fouls. But
Windows seven and beyond Microsoft move those files into a special hidden partition. That is
the system. Partition was hidden, and initialization files were there.
Please remember that these names only apply to Microsoft Windows,
Lennix and other fall systems arm or consistently named.
So we go back to our demo.
We select the boot partition as we discussed before,
and the installer is telling us that it's going to say the contents of the original operating system in the windows dot old folder.
I think you'll find the configuration file date. Another content. They're helpful
for advanced users if there's some issue with the new install.
Typically that windows dot old porter gets deleted after a period of time just to recover the space.
How installer is running and it's going toe. Continue and go ahead and complete the insulation we sped. This up is you've discussed before.
I'm gonna end the demonstration here
and just allow this to run the completion steps are similar to what we saw in the previous episode. Again are free to that
See those steps?
Let's review the features that we presented in this episode.
The clean install method that is wipe and load
must be used to change processor architectures, downgrade additions or just to reform installs on brand new hardware.
You must back up the user files and application data before performing a clean install. You'll need these backups to restore when you've created a new user.
Thanks for completing its episode
in the next episode will look at a few Windows 10 professional enterprise features
then I think, should always be implemented.
