Hello, everybody. And welcome to this lecture and this lecture We're gonna be covering the different cloud computing models and the deployments. So let's go ahead and I've right into it.
The different types of cloud computing models would be I s pass and cess. Now, many of you may have heard some of these terms. I know sass is a huge buzz word out in the I t community, but essentially, this is what they mean. I asked me, and infrastructure as a service
past means platform as a service and sass main software as a service
and this lecture, we're gonna be talking about each of them. So let's start off with my ***.
Infrastructure as a service is when you have the ability to manage the service on your own, which can be physical or virtual as well as the operating system, Usually the data center provider does not have access to your server. What this allows you to do is typically host
more secure data. Or maybe your organization
cares about the privacy of your data. They don't want other systems engineers to accidentally get their hands on it. Um, with with with an I asked type server. You can have that confidence and knowing that you're the only one with your hands in the honey pot, so to speak. So
you don't have to worry about any other eyes
in there.
And all these things were laid out. All these terms are laid out with in the contract that you signed moving on. We're gonna take a look at platform as a service which has passed. So essentially, this is someone else is managing the underlying hardware and the operating system, meaning that there
managing the server and the operating system, whether it's Lennox or windows or whatever,
and all you need to do is focus on the application and the data within the application. So this is ideal for programmers,
basically you can. You can focus on your code and you get to leave the worry about the security and the patching in the updates in the maintenance et cetera of the actual systems to the cloud provider. So you're just focusing on the application at your building,
and it's not worrying about any of the maintenance. So you really optimizing your job
and keeping for efficiency once again. Still very cheap, so we'll be talking about more of. That's when we get into the building and pricing of eight of us.
Unless for the deployment models is the software as a service s? Oh, that's a pretty popular one. So sass is essentially where all you need to do is manage to data. Um, if you've been using the Internet for any amount of time recently, you'll notice that most of the service is that we use
are assessed.
Ah, good example of that would be Dropbox. So for those of you who don't know who drop boxes
is essentially a storage system and the cloud where literally all you have to do is a drag and drop the files from your computer into the cloud,
they offer free tier, and then they offer a pate, a page here and an enterprise here.
Um, but basically, what this is is the cloud provider who would be drop box in this case is taking care of the server, a operating system, the software
literally maintaining everything. The only thing they're not maintaining is your data. You are
gonna be in charge of that. So if you decide to upload something, if you decide to delete something
that's on you that's not on them.
And, uh, that's determines within the terms and agreements that you signed when you first apply for an account.
Ah, with Dropbox, your data has hosted and fully managed within the application and the server, which dropbox employees take care of.
However, like I just said,
no actual data within the DROPBOX account is your responsibility.
moving on, I wanted to talk about the three types of cloud computing deployments. So we've been talking a lot about how there are different types of cloud computing models. We have the IAS sass and passed. This is gonna be a little bit different. This is more talking about the,
uh, who's managing what's and the location of it.
public cloud would be like eight of us or Google Cloud platform or azure. Ah, those are gonna be out there. They're hosted by somebody else. They're not thinks that you maintain. So when we talk about I ***, we're talking about, uh, a server that's you are managing, but it is not
in your building. It is not in your closet.
It is an another location that you actually don't have access to
and are you likely don't have access to? And the big big providers out there would be eight of us, obviously, Google Cloud and Azure A. They offer that cyber service for you.
Um, a hybrid cloud environment would be where you have your public cloud out there, and then you also have a private server or private cloud in your own data center or in your own data closet.
And so what you're doing is you're integrating the you're creating a network. You're creating an infrastructure where you're connecting the two. You're connecting a public cloud computer and a private cloud computer
together, and your organization's able to interact and access both accordingly, depending on what you're trying to d'oh
and then the private cloud, which is more, probably more. It's better coined as an on premise. Cloud is your manage, Scott. You manage that you take care of the server, you take care of the operating system and the data, and it's also accessible across the world.
But it's within your own data center. So
the one of the reasons why it wouldn't be good to go with an on from this cloud would be because if your data center where to get burned down and you didn't have a duplicate of it where he didn't have a backup somewhere else, Obviously, you would lose your cloud. It would not be accessible to you and and honestly, going back to the previous video cost
costs, costs, costs. It just costs a lot of money.
Have your own server hosted on premise, and I know some of you may be super economical. You may know if a way to get it on premise, but you're not keeping in accounts the actual maintenance of it. So if that's something you're willing to take on the ingrate on Promise Cloud Private Cloud, maybe that's for you. But Public Cloud,
maybe a more beneficial option. If you're trying to stay more frugal with your system spending, let's go ahead and review the video summary. So in this lecture, we discuss the three types of cloud computing models. So we start off with, I asked, which is infrastructure as a service.
This is a server that you can manage without the assistance of the data center,
but the server is located in another location, and you handle everything you're handling the server. So the actual patching of the server and all that the operating system
and you're handling the application and the data. So this is you. This is all you, buddy.
Uh, moving on with past this is gonna be a little bit different. Past is platform as a service, and the data center handles the actual server and the operating system. They take care of all the maintenance. The only thing you need to worry about is the application and the data within that application. So that,
like I said, this is ideal for programmers because you guys,
you're not systems engineers. You don't want to worry about that stuff. You just want to code
and pass, allows you to do that. And eight of us makes it very affordable. Free to do that. They developed this thing for you in mind
and then with SAS software as a service.
And this is for most people out there who are just They're just trying to use the application. They just want to put their data in there. They only want to worry about their data. They don't want to handle
these software. They don't want to handle the operating system or the server, they just wanna handle with the data. And in this video, we use Dropbox as an example. Another example could be Gmail Outlook. They are just software that it's hosted online. You can access it from anywhere in the world, and all you're doing is handling
the data.
