Okay, so this is less than 11. Done. One printer Technology's part two. As we continue our discussion with printer technologies, okay, and this lesson we're going to continue our discussion with printer and printer technologies, so we're going to specifically talk about and discussed inkjet printers, the ink cartridge, the print hand,
the roller feeder and duplex ing the carriage and belt
and maintenance hips for inject printers. So let's go ahead and jump right in and get started. Inkjet printers. They're found in both the commercial and home environments. This technology is less complex than laser print technology, so therefore, this makes that a very affordable unit to have in the home and in the business
we're in the business. The in jet printers
do have a high rate or quality of printing. They can print in black and white color in a very high resolution, so it makes them ideal for the home office, home and professional use.
The form factors for inject printers include the standard inkjet printer, as well as all in one units and all in one units may include factors such as printing, faxing and scanning.
One of the disadvantages to injure printers would be processed, possibly the ink over a long period of time. The ink could be quite expensive, refilling the ink for these units so that we one disadvantage for the ancient printer.
Now let's talk about the N. Cartridges in jet printers are also known as ink dispersant technology. So basically what that means is drops of ink are placed on the page as its printing, and you were generally see the cartridges in the unit. You'll see the colors of cm like hate with the initials rather,
and they stand for the colors of sayin magenta,
yellow and K for key means. Actually the black the black is the key color there.
Now, as you know, the inject printers comm print over a variety of different colors, other than the four colors that we see the year below. But what it does
when a print job goes through the inject printer, the printer is able to mix these colors to create other colors as well, so these four key colors are responsible for the many or millions of colors that maybe on your pronounce,
because the inject printers do a lot of printing, those nozzles tend to get clock. So therefore, some models have self cleaning a CZ well as one other features.
Now the print hands of ancient printer on smaller consumer models, the EQ is integrated into the print hand. So as you see on the images here, this is a typical print cartage. On one side of the cartridge is the the copper dots. Those are contact points. They get the instructions from the printer,
and on the other side of the printer, you'll see a little small print head right there over to the right.
That print had actually prints what's out onto the page of the paper. So again from the contacts to get its instructions from the printer and the print hit actually prints to the paper
s. So it's all integrated. So when this ink cartridges empty, you replaced the entire unit that includes the ink cartridge as well as the print head.
Larger commercial inkjet printers will have a separate ink cartridge from the print head.
Now, when paper is loaded into the printer, there has to be something that pools or feeds that paper into the printer itself. And that's the feed roller. Those rollers pick up the paper and feed it through the printer because it's doing this multiple times. Those have must have to be kept clean on dhe, not worn out over a period of time
where you see your paper that's not pulling incorrectly.
It could be your feet roller. Not pulling that paper in
duplex ing is a big part of the feed roller process, because on some models it has the capability of duplex ing. And what duplex ing is is the capability of printing on both sides of the paper.
So the feed rollers will pull that paper in and printed on one side, and the hardware will be ableto flipped that paper over to print on the other side. And the rollers are critical component of this process.
Another component you will see in up on inkjet printer is the carriage and the belt in the bottom right hand corner. When you open up your printer, you'll see the carriage that holds the ink jet eat cartridges rather for that inkjet printer. Then this will ultimately generally moved to one side or the other,
and it slides across a rack or a rail of some sort.
Basically, the ink carriage moves along the paper printing on the paper injects on. Some models are built right into the carriage of the ink cartridge, integrated with the print hand like we spoke before, or sometimes it will have a separate nozzle right there on the bottom of the carriage, depending on the model of Incheon printer that you have.
The belt is the drive that carries the carriage along those rails, and it pulls it back and forth across the paper. So if you're having problems as far as not printing or it sounds like there may be a binding when you open your printer up and go to inspect it to perform troubleshooting or maintenance,
you'll see that the belt may not be pulling. That's one sure sign
to look for when you know that noticed that the cartridges not moving there may be a binding or some sort eso again. That belt pulls it across the rails for the carriage
on these, and pretty much these two are they'll moving parts inside of your printer, the carriage and the belt moving back and forth.
So this is a little bit closer picture of the belt that pulls the carriage back and forth across the paper, and, as you can see, that built right there fits right there next to the rail and it slides. Its job is to slide that in cart carriage back and forth.
Printer calibration. This is a routine maintenance that you would need to perform on your ink jet and you as the technician. We may want to need to do this in certain situations. On the French Inject printer calibration, it performs proper alignment of ink, jet cartridge and nozzles to keep each other in sync.
Quality degrades or appear to time, so it's gonna need maintenance. It want to make sure that your lines are crisp and aligned. Printers include a calibration feature on the menu and somewhat times also in the software. But for the most part, printers have the capability of going right to the menu to do a ah calibration test right there from there.
Now, this is a print out of a print quality diagnostics or calibration test,
and what you wouldn't want to do is make sure that when you do this test and performance that your colors are clear in their crisp and their line, they're not overlapping. Also it will give you a line on diagnostics, and you want to make sure that the lines are straight. They're not spotted or faded, but they're straight,
proper lines. And it's not ST.
And you can run this several times until you get it to your liking and that at that point, the maintenance of the printer is complete. So this is how a print quality diagnostic where printed calibration page will look from a printer.
