Welcome back in this upcoming episode, we're gonna discuss cloud computing, and my objective for you is to understand some of the most common cloud computing deployment models.
So let's start with the big question. What is cloud computing? Cloud computing is the delivery of traditional compute resource is like servers, storage, networking software and databases over the Internet.
Cloud computing is a flexible model where you can often on Lee pay for the resource is that you use.
This eliminates unused resource is or over provisions servers that you may have traditionally hosted in your on premises data centers.
As an I T architect, you no longer have to plan the purchase of hardware and software for running applications in your data center.
The cloud has several benefits as well, such as better performance on demand. Resource is reliability, redundancy, scale and security.
There are three common types of cloud computing found from service providers.
First, there is a public cloud, and these air, operated by third party cloud service providers and provide different compute resource, is mentioned earlier.
Thes resource is air owned and managed by the cloud provider and are accessed over the Internet, typically over a Web browser.
The compute resources are used in shared by multiple organizations.
The next type is Private Cloud, and this is a model where the compute resources are used entirely by a single organization. Thes private clouds can be located in an organization's own data center, or they can pay 1/3 party service to host. Their resource is for them.
This infrastructure is access and maintained over a private network.
The third type of cloud computing model is the hybrid cloud model. This is a combination of public and private clouds. This bottle typically uses software that allows applications and data to be shared across the two environments.
An organization that leverages a public cloud with a private or on premises data center allows for greater deployment options and resiliency with existing resource Is
an organization could host an application in their private cloud and then use the public cloud to provision on demand. Resource is for additional compute power or as a backup recovery site in case of a disaster.
While there are different types of clouds, there are also different. Service is available inside of each of those cloud bottles. Let's go over some of the more common ones.
The first kind is infrastructure as a service, or I, as this provides compute infrastructure where you can build virtual machines using operating systems such as Windows or various Lennox distributions.
You can size the virtual machines appropriately and easily scale them up or down by adding or removing CPU memory or disk space on demand, I asked, typically uses a pay as you go model, meaning you only pay for the compute resource is that you use
if you turn off the virtual machine that you're no longer charged for the CPI or RAM that was assigned to the virtual machine.
The next kind is platform as a service or pass, and this is typically used for developing software applications. Has allows developers to create Web or mobile APS quickly without worrying about setting up the servers, network or storage that might meeting it to support the APP.
This also includes the software tools needed for application developments such as text editing, version management and testing. Service is
the third kind. We're gonna discuss software as a service or SAS, or an entire software applications delivered over the Internet.
Thes applications typically follow a subscription based model where you as an organization would pay on a per user per month basis in a sass model. The cloud provider manages every aspect of the software, including the infrastructure maintenance and security that supports the application.
Examples for Microsoft include their office 3 65 Sweet, with applications like SharePoint
one drive in exchange.
Finally, a cloud service has been gaining in popularity lately. Is server lis computing? This model focuses on building apt functionality without worrying about provisions or managing servers. Server lis computing relies on responding to events or triggers happening in real time. In the cloud
building is based on Leon Resource is consumed by the AP or for how long it took the APP code to run. The primary differences between past and server lis is server lis. Applications can scale automatically and on Lee execute their code When invoked
in this episode, we briefly discussed what is cloud computing in some different types of cloud computing models in different delivery options coming up next, we're going to take a look at what is Microsoft Azure. See you in the next episode
