Hi, everybody. Welcome to Cyber Aires. Lean six Sigma Yellow belt course on behalf of cyber ery and myself, Catherine Nick Iver, I'm excited to have you here. So without further ado, let's get started.
All right, First things off. Who am I? My name is Katherine MacGyver. I am a lean six Sigma master Black belt. This is the highest level of certification you can earn and lean. And six Sigma. I have about 10 years of experience as a lean six Sigma practitioner.
Um, what that means is I actually
started at the same place you are with my yellow belt green belt. At the time, they didn't have yellow boat, went all the way up through my black belt and continued to my master black belt on to be certified to train black belts.
So my professional specialty is actually focused on the development of organizational lean and six Sigma programs. And what that means is that I work with organizations who do not have lain and six Sigma programs to help them develop the foundation's their organization alignment, hire their practitioners
and lead the first few projects for them.
So they have a sense of what to expect once they have their own program in the work.
I do have an MBA in entrepreneurship, and I am a doctoral candidate in business administration, and my research there actually is focused on the reduction of chaos and complexity and organizations, so that dovetails quite nicely with lean. Six Sigma.
More interestingly, is who are you? So people who would be good candidates for lean six Sigma yellow belts are business leaders. So people who are in decision making capacity over departments or processes who want to
champion and support their process improvement efforts
process owners or business subject matter experts. So the people who are actually doing the work. This is twofold. One, because you're more than likely, at some point going to be asked to serve on a process improvement team, other lean six sigma or one of the other disciplines, and two because you are uniquely positioned
to identify it, wastes and value add within your, um,
and please who participate on lean and six segment teams. This is very helpful for all employees. Toe have a background to at least a yellow belt level on a lean and six Sigma teams, and the reason my eyes, because you understand what's going on and what potentially to expect.
It helps the facilitators facilitates smooth projects
without having to pause quite a bit in train. You on what to expect or get you up to speed to be a participant in the project
and lastly, anyone who's interested in developing themselves with fundamental lean and six sigma knowledge. So if you are interested in learning about this or if you were interested in process knowledge, this is a really good place to get started. If you would like to go on to get your green belt or your black belt,
this is foundational knowledge so it will build upon your future. Training
will build upon what you learn in this course, so it's also very important to, as you look for towards your future, understand if that's something you want to do and take note of some of the core concepts from this course.
All right, so why do you care? Why do you want to do your lean six sigma yellow belt training? There are two reasons. Actually. The first reason is for your company, and the second is for you personally.
So when we talk about for your company. We hear about the standard benefits you get from lean six Sigma programs. Increasing productivity, reducing waste, reducing errors or more specifically reducing defects and variation,
increased customer satisfaction, increased employee satisfaction and optimizing resource usage. So, really, what we can all summarize this into is great for your business doom or faster with less or the same amount
for you personally, because you're the one putting the work into this.
The first thing that you're going to get from this training is a better understanding of business processes, drivers and outcomes. And what that means is going to help you become a more savvy and plea, and that is aware of the larger picture that is impacting your work and potentially much
your entire organization.
It's going to train you to focus on the right issues, So when we start talking about you have a set amount of time in a day. How do you choose what you choose to invest in Lehman? Six Sigma has great ways to get you to that point.
It fosters managerial and leadership skills, so when you come to the point in your career where you want to move into those leadership positions. Managers and leaders are more successful when they are able to coordinate cross functional teams driven towards outcomes.
Lean and six Sigma. Given the fact that it is very outcome oriented,
gives you some tools to coordinate or wrangle your project teams to get to those cross functional outcomes. So it's like
Manager boot camp.
It supports career advancement and growth. So we mentioned earlier about being a savvy employees. Savvy employees tend to have more opportunities available to them. So when I talk about seven plea, I mean employees who can come, too.
Their supervisors and their managers with identified problems
and proposed solutions and maybe not necessarily proposed delusions but be able to identify problems and work collaboratively collaboratively towards resolving those.
And the last reason is more money. No promises, but more money. So lean and six Sigma is a very highly in demand certification in across all industries and then those practitioners. So people who are lean and six Sigma specifically tended to make more money
aside from being a lean and six sigma practitioner and having an in demand certification.
The things that we mentioned before the awareness of your processes in your driver, the ability to focus your investments on the right things. These are all going to contribute towards your earning potential.
All right, so from thus yellow belt course. Once you complete this course, you will be able to understand the fundamentals of Lean and six sigma. Recognize lean and six Sigma terminology and realistically integrated into your daily vocabulary.
Recognize the domestic methodology for continuous improvement.
Identify waste and value had non value add in your work processes. So this is really going to be specific to the work that you touch upon. But you may be able to also see it in your larger organization, solve small problems and support larger problem solving team. So these air those lean and six Sigma teams we talked about you being able to participate on
and then utilize basic lean six Sigma principles
in your daily work,
a couple of things to look forward to and this course is we're talking about the legend, the little gearhead, these we're going to be great minds. There was a plethora of management gurus who gave us insight and information that ultimately evolved. Leading six signals the discipline. It is today.
Um, Chalkboard, that's gonna be a pop quiz. This is going to be a check. Your learning moment
and the little pencil. Take note these air going to be concepts that show up later on in the course
and one last quick, fun fact why air the certification levels called belts so lean and six Sigma has a very deep Japanese heritage that will go over And when we go over our history of Lean and six Sigma. But in order to pay much to that heritage, we considered the
levels and competencies belt levels. So right now, the standard ones are yellow, green, black and master black boat
which corresponds with the Japanese levels of competency and mastery within their martial arts.
Thank you guys, and I am looking forward to teaching you Lane and six Sigma yellow Belt.
