Project Planning:

The second phase of the life cycle of a project is planning. This means that the project has been authorized once the planning phase begins. To get started with the second phase of the life cycle the first phase of Initiation provides two documents:

• Project Charter

• Preliminary Project Scope Statement

Planning involves a concurrence of multiple processes.

The Planning Process Group Process Interactions

The processes in the planning phase inform how the deliverables will be achieved. The output of these planning processes explains how the goals will be met by the project.

Planning is a very important stage in the life cycle of a project. If the planning process is handled poorly it can compromise the success of a project. Poor planning can culminate in wasted effort and time. Effective communication among the support team is crucial during the planning stage. The project manager should demonstrate strong leadership skills and keep the team well informed for positive results.
