Simple Public Key Infrastructure (SPKI):

The simple public key infrastructure (SPKI) evolved from three independent attempts to resolve the complexities of X.509 and PGP’s web of trust. SPKI doesn’t involve public authentication of public key information, nor does it bind people to keys since the keys rather than users, are trusted. SPKI does not use any notion of trust, as the verifier is also the issuer. This is called an “authorization loop” where authorization is essential to its design.
