Description and Implications of Transport Encryption:

Transport encryption (data-in-transit) protects the file as it’s transmitted over protocols such as FTPS (SSL), SFTP (SSH), and HTTPS. Leading solutions use encryption strengths up to 256-bit. File encryption (―data-at-rest‖) encrypts an individual file in the event makes its way to an unauthorized party, they could not access or see the contents. PGP is commonly used to encrypt files. Using both together offers a double-layer of protection, safeguarding files as they’re transferred and the PGP protects the file itself, a critical juncture after it has been moved and on a server, laptop, USB drive, or smartphone. Make certain your organization is no longer using the FTP protocol for sending any type of confidential, private, or sensitive information.
