# S3SS10N Wednesday: Converting Binary to Decimal

Published: August 10, 2016 | By: Kelly Handerhan | Views: 6457

### This Weeks S3SS10N Wednesday

This lesson covers decimal to binary to hexadecimal conversion. This knowledge is very handy to know prior to going into something such as sub netting. Hexadecimal conversion is also a good skill to have as IP6 is becoming more common. This session offers participants step by step instructions in how to use numbers to convert them into bytes of data. To convert a decimal number into binary, we look to see how the numbers fit together (will 128 fit into 211?). The number 211 in decimal is expressed as 11.01.00.11. Essentially, you are looking to see if a value will fit inside a decimal number. To take binary to hexadecimal is relatively simple via running it through binary.

1. Kelly, Oh, I have to add and subtract that’s easy enough. I like how you took the time to slowly explain it, step by step.

2. finally i understood that numbering systems , thank you Ser you made it easy

3. Wow!!! You make this looks so easy and fun to watch. Thanks for your hard work.. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. This is great helped me get proficient with a subject that struggled with

5. Awesome, thanks for catching that error. When I calculated it as well I found that the “1” in the first section of bits was not added to get 13 instead of 12, which is D3. Great lesson.
