-Determine Router type

    +Omni Directional Antenna(sends 360 coverage)

    +Parabolic Antenna(Beams the signal in one direction)

-Determine location 

    +keep up high out of obstructions and that is not available to the neighborhood

-Connect Power

-Connect Computer that we want to config. the router with. (Use a cable to connect the first time)Some come with disk or ip address for wireless connection for first time


    +Login to router (Changed default SSID, Add Key(WPA2 with APS), Username & Password)

-Verify Connectivity

-DHCP will config. IP,DNS,SubnetMask, exe automatically

    +Can Be Disabled if causing problems down the road

-MAC Filtering(WiFi and cable MAC addresses are different, Most comp. have 2)

    +Refuse Connections by MAC

    +MAC spoofing can be used to fake MAC Address


    +1-11 (U.S.A)

    +Usually 1,6,11 to allow 2 channel overcast buffer
