Types of Connection:

Bridged- VM has own IP on Network

NAT=The VM uses NAT (Network Addressed Translation)

Private  – VM is isolated – Certain Virtualization Software may allow for configuration of Virtual Switches/Networks

Certain Virtualization Software may allow  for configuration of Virtual Switches/Networks  are very important on which applications and appliances to install such as virtual box extensions.

Virtual Machines: Security Requirements

Virtual Machines:  Security Requirements

In this lesson we examine what the Security Requirements are for a virtual environment.

We examine both physical and software security solutions and really demonstrate how deploying the same type of security practices that are used for a physical network apply to a virtual network as well to assure the connections are managed securely and thoroughly.

We discuss security for the VM Host machines and how it’s a single point of failure and discuss its impact if not adequately secured both physically and through the use of software and configurations.

Malicious code, malware and other security concerns are examined for their ability to exploit weaknesses in the Hypervisor and you’ll learn examples of those to be aware of.
