Defends against Malware.  Check to see if it is on or off.  Make sure settings are active.

Action Center protects against Malware . Make sure shields are green. 

Windows fire wall is typically dynamic.

Leave firewall on or change settings.

Security center tells you what is turned on. 

Event viewer check to see what is going on.

Can be setup to sent message when certain things are happening.
