  1. Sth you know – Pin/password
  2. sth you have – Token
  3. sth you are – biometrics
  4. smwhere you are – login from where
  5. sth you do – signature or keyboard

1 = one factor

2= two factor

3= Multi factor


  • Allows for Authenticating remote users
  • often used in dial up user connections
  • and enterprise grade wireless authentication set ups

TACACS+ = Multifactor Authentication TCP

KERBEROS = Auth standart KDC, TGS, Tickets(timestamp) between system and users server and users authenticated via kerberos

LDAP = Lightweight Directory Access Protocol
