I faced issue while running the MS08-67 exploit on windows xp machine and was not able to create a session. Did anyone face this issue. Can anyone help out where I went wrong?
I followed the same steps as described by the Instructor.

Well have you tried rebooting it I remember in my lab I once ran the exploit took a break and tried the exploit again having forgot what I was even doing and it wouldn’t work.

I would like to know if anyone was able to get this to work too. I’ve been troubleshooting for over an hour now.
I used nmap to make sure port 445 was open on the target. I checked updates on the XPSP3 machine, and there’s none according to add and remove programs. I changed the payloads to several different ones. I constantly get “exploit completed but no session was created”
any info on this would be helpful

If anyone has any problems with this in the future. Using ‘check’ on msfconsole instead of ‘exploit’ shows you that “the target is not exploitable” with any website hosting a windows xp sp3 iso. That’s because they’re all fully patched. If you want to get this to work, you will have to get an iso some other way. I torrented one, made sure it was SP2 to be safe, and the exploit immediately worked. Again, the issue is the OS having the patch that fixes the vulnerability. Using a CD would work too, if you can find one.

for to exploit MS08-067… target system must have firewall and antivirus disable…
