    I really don’t understand the concept of payload, can somebody give me a detailed explanation?

    Think about it like a dump truck/tractor trailer/whatever. The payload is the main thing you want delivered to your target machine. The payload could be a buffer overflow that then grants you a shell, or it could be malicious code that installs a botnet agent or a keylogger. Its the meat and potatoes of what you are trying to deliver to your target.
