Description
This guided lab is appropriate for beginning students who have some familiarity with basic cybersecurity concepts. Once completed, the student will be able to use basic cybersecurity offensive tools such as tcpdump, Wireshark, John the Ripper, PowerShell, Netcat, and Nmap. The lab will take about 90 minutes to complete if you are not familiar with basic cybersecurity concepts and/or the tools used. This lab will help develop knowledge of penetration testing principles, tools, and techniques, which is important for the many work roles (see below). You will work toward having skill in the use of penetration testing tools and techniques, which is important for Cyber Instructors and Vulnerability Assessment Analysts. The lab will also help develop skills in performing packet-level analysis, which is important for Law Enforcement/Counterintelligence Forensics Analysts. This lab develops fundamental skills in cybersecurity and will benefit most career paths in information technology.
