The Using Windows Features and Tools module provides you with the instruction and Server hardware to develop your hands on skills in the defined topics. This module includes the following exercises:

- Configuring Ease of Access
The following exam objectives are covered in this lab:
- 220-902: 1.1 Compare and contrast various features and requirements of Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1)
- 220-902: 1.4 Given a scenario, use appropriate Microsoft operating system features and tools (Administrative)
- 220-902: 1.5 Given a scenario, use Windows Control Panel utilities (Internet Options)
- 220-902: 3.3 Compare and contrast differences of basic Windows OS security settings (User and Groups)
Lab time: It will take approximately 1 hour to complete this lab.
Exercise 1 - Download and Install Windows Administrative Tools
Windows operating systems supports remote administration from a variety of tools and utilities. Remote administration gives the system administrator the flexibility to manage Windows Servers regardless of his location assuming the network services and the infrastructure are functional in the corporate network.
In this lab, you will download and install Remote Server Administration Tool or RSAT for Windows 8.1. RSAT is set of utilities that can be used for administering Windows Servers in a domain.
Exercise 2 - Using System Configuration Tool
The System Configuration Tools (msconfig.exe) is an administrator program that you can use to control the boot up of Windows, launch applications and control the start-up of programs executed when a user logs on to Windows.
Exercise 3 - Working with Windows Apps
In this exercise, you will download and install apps from the Windows store. App (application) files is a new type of executable file in Windows 8.x operating system. An app when installed, creates a tile within the Windows Start screen that you can click to launch the application.
Windows 8.x which also supports ARM platform (Windows Surface) can download and install apps (applications) - for free or paid from the Windows store.
Exercise 4 - Using Windows Internet Explorer
All Windows versions come with a standard web browser for browsing the Internet called Internet Explorer. Like other browsers, IE has built-in security features like smart-screen for checking the safety of a website and popup blockers for fending off unwanted pop-up advertisements. With IE’s safety features, your computer must have an anti-malware tools to block malicious code that are propagated by untrusted websites.
In this exercise, you will explore some of basic features of Internet Explorer.
Exercise 5 - Using Windows Accessories
Windows 8.1 like its previous versions, include an array of miscellaneous tools that help you do your job better. For example, when you capture a screen shot you can select a portion of the screen shot by using the snipping tool. This can be useful when you are creating a document that must include clipart from your system.
For playing back video, audio files and for viewing the pictures library, you can use Windows Media Player.
Exercise 6 - Configuring Ease of Access
The accessibility features of Windows makes your computer easier and comfortable to use for everyone. Additional features about enhancing computer use like assistive technology is available on the Microsoft Accessibility website.
