Exercise 1 - Installing Print Services
In this exercise, you will learn the following using Microsoft Windows Server R2:
- Installing Print service
- Enabling print pooling
- Managing and monitoring printers
Exercise 2 - Configuring Printers
Print Management snap-in helps to detect the printers that are located on the same subnet as the computer in which the Print Management is running. Print Management snap-in is used to install the required drivers, set up the print queues and share the printers.
Internet printing role service in Windows 2008 R2 creates a website hosted by Internet Information Services (IIS). The Website helps users to:
- Manage print jobs on the server
- Use a web browser to connect and print to shared printers on this server by using the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP)
Exercise 3 - File, Folder and Share Permissions
Permissions on a shared resource, such as a folder or volume, are determined by the local NTFS permissions for that resource and by the protocol used to access the shared resource:
Server Message Block (SMB) protocol - SMB-based access control for Windows-based file systems is implemented by granting permissions to the individual users and groups.
In this exercise, you will configure file system security by using Share folder permissions and NTFS permissions.
