Introduction

The Understand Disk Types module provides you with the instruction and server hardware to develop your hands on skills in the defined topics. This module includes the following exercises:

  • Distributed File Systems

Exercise 1 - Managing Disk Types

In this exercise you will perform the tasks required to create virtual hard disks in Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2.

Exercise 2 - Distributed File Systems

Distributed File System (DFS) is a Windows Server service that consolidates the shared folders of different servers into one unified directory tree namespace. With DFS directory structure that’s configured properly, users will need to connect to the root folder and will have access to the shared folders regardless of their location.

In this exercise you will perform the tasks required to install a Distributed File System (DFS).
