Exercise 1 - Prepare Network Prerequisites for Network Address Translation

Network Address Translation or NAT is a device that sits between an office network and the public Internet. This device maps an internal IP addresses to a public IP address that allows internal computers to access the Internet simultaneously. NAT Server provides shared Internet access and conceals internal network address from the public network.

In this exercise, you will prepare the network requirements to successfully configure Network Address Translator server using Microsoft Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS).

Learning Outcomes

After completing this exercise, you will be able to:

  • Install and configure Network Address Translation

Exercise 2 - Manage NAT Server

After configuring the necessary network prerequisites for NAT, you will now install and set up Routing and Remote Access service on Windows Server 2012 R2. NAT is an additional routing protocol included in Microsoft Routing and Remote Access. A NAT device uses two network interfaces, one connected to the internal network while the other is connected to the public network.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this exercise, you will be able to:

  • Verify functionality of NAT server
