Overview

Introduction

The Managing Remote Access Connections module provides you with the instruction and server hardware to develop your hands on skills in the defined topics. This module includes the following exercises:

  • Install and Configure VPN Service
  • Configure Windows VPN Client

Exercise 1 - Install and Configure VPN Service

Windows Server 2012 includes the Routing and Remote Access Services (RRAS) network service. RRAS supports remote user or site-to-site connectivity by implementing virtual private networks (VPN) or dial-up connections.

In this exercise, you will install RRAS on a Windows Server 2012 device and then set up a Windows 8.1 workstation as a VPN client that will dial-in to RRAS.

Exercise 2 - Configure Windows VPN Client

All Windows workstations have the capability to dial-in to a VPN server using its native VPN client software.

In the previous exercise, you installed and configured VPN services on Windows Server 2012. To validate the VPN settings that were setup on server, you will create a VPN client connection on Windows 10.
