Exercise 1- Install SQL Server 2012 Integration Services and Set up Service Accounts

In this exercise, you will learn the following in Microsoft SQL Server 2012:

How to install SSIS to an existing installation of SQL Server 2012

  • Create a managed service account and configure Integration Services to use the service account

Exercise 2 - Configure Integration Services

In this task, you will enable the Integration Services feature in the already existing SQL Server 2012 installation by letting the Integration Services feature to use the default virtual service account.

Note there are two types of accounts in Windows Server 2008 R2, namely managed service accounts and virtual accounts. Managed service accounts are managed domain accounts that include automatic password management. A virtual account is managed local accounts with no password management and provides the ability to access the network with a computer account in a domain environment. To configure a service to use a virtual account, you need to assign an account with the name NT SERVICE{servicename}. For example, to configure SQL Server Database Engine service to use a virtual account, use "NT SERVICE\MSSQLSERVER” for the account name.
