Overview

Introduction

The Implement Active Directory Federation Services module provides you with the instruction and server hardware to develop your hands on skills in the defined topics. This module includes the following exercises:

  1. Implement Claims-Based Authentication

  2. Install and Configure Active Directory Federation Services

Exercise 1 - Implement Claims-Based Authentication

A claim is a statement about a user account that is used for authorizing access to an application. Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) is a service that creates a trust between disparate organizations by allowing the trusted exchange of arbitrary claims that contain arbitrary values. The receiving party or organisation will use these claims to make authorization decisions on whether or not to allow the user access to a resource like a web application.

Exercise 2 - Install and Configure Active Directory Federation Services

In this exercise, you will install ADFS after configuring the system prerequisites in Exercise 1.
