Introduction
The Establish Coexistence with Exchange Online module provides you with the instruction and server hardware to develop your hands on skills in the defined topics. This module includes the following exercises:
- Subscribing to Exchange Online
- Install System Requirements for ADFS
- Download and Configure a Claims-Aware Application
- Install and Configure AD Federation Services
Exercise 1 - Subscribing to Exchange Online
Exchange Online provides your organization a cloud-based solution for your messaging requirements. There is no need to maintain an on premise data center as all servers are hosted by Microsoft.
Exercise 2 - Install System Requirements for ADFS
Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) is a technology that provides streamlined access for a web application between two organizations.
Exercise 3 - Download and Configure a Claims-Aware Application
In this exercise, you will download a sample claims-aware application that will later be used by Active Directory Federation Services. A claim is an attribute assigned to a user object such as user principal name (UPN) similar to an e-mail address used for logging on to the Active Directory Domain.
Exercise 4 - Install and Configure Active Directory Federation Services
In this exercise, you will install and configure AD Federation Services. Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) is a service that allows system administrators to create a trust between disparate organizations by allowing the trusted exchange of arbitrary claims that contain arbitrary values. The receiving party or organisation will use these claims to make authorization decisions on whether or not to allow the user access to a resource like a web application. A claim is a statement about a user account that is used for authorizing access to an application.
