Exercise 1 - Creating and Configuring Mailbox Databases

As an Exchange Server administrator, the first tasks that you need to perform are to create and configure mailbox databases. The two tools that help in performing these basic tasks are Exchange Admin Center (EAC) and Exchange Management Shell. EAC is a web-based administration tool that helps perform all administrative tasks for on-premise, hybrid, and online Exchange Server environments. Exchange Management Shell is the command-line utility that can be used to perform all administrative tasks using numerous cmdlets.

In this exercise, in the first task, you will create a mailbox database using the EAC and the Exchange Management Shell.

In the second task, you will configure the properties of the newly created mailbox databases using EAC and Exchange Management Shell.

Exercise 2 - Managing Mailbox Databases

After you have created and configured the mailbox databases, you need to manage the mailbox databases. Managing involves, mounting and dismounting of the databases, renaming the databases as required, moving the database files into a different folder, and deleting old databases.

In this exercise, in the first task, you will mount and dismount the newly created database using the Exchange admin center and Exchange Management Shell.

In the second exercise, you will rename a mailbox database using Exchange admin center and Exchange Management Shell.

In the third exercise, you will move the database and log files associated with a mailbox database from the default location to a new location using Exchange Management Shell.

In the fourth exercise, you will delete the newly create mailbox databases using Exchange admin center and Exchange Management Shell.
