Introduction

Welcome to the Creating and Configuring Mail-Enabled Objects - Part 2 Practice Lab. In this module, you will be provided with the instructions and devices needed to develop your hands-on skills.

After completing this lab, you will be able to:

  • Create and configure mail-enabled objects in Exchange Server 2016.

It will take approximately 1 hour to complete this lab.

Exercise 1 - Managing Mail-Enabled Objects

Apart from the various types of mailboxes, there are other mail-enabled objects such as shared mailboxes, distribution groups, and public folders in Exchange Server. As an administrator, you should be able to create, configure, and manage these mail-enabled objects.

For shared mailboxes:

  • Create a shared mailbox.
  • Add users who can view and send emails from the shared mailbox.
  • Configure the properties of the shared mailbox such as giving a user full access to the shared mailbox, assigning the ‘send on behalf’ rights to another user, assigning the ‘send as’ right to another user, setting the maximum message size for the mailbox, etc.
  • Configure Outlook 2016 for the users to access the shared mailbox.

For distribution groups:

  • Create a distribution group.
  • Add members to the group.
  • Configure the properties and the moderators for the group.

For public folders:

  • Create public folders.
  • Create a public folder mailbox.
  • Create subfolders under the public folders based on the requirements.
  • Configure the public folder properties.
  • Manage the public folder permissions.

In this exercise, you will learn how to manage the mail-enabled objects by performing the following tasks:

  • Task 1 - Create shared mailboxes
  • Task 2 - Configure shared mailboxes
  • Task 3 - Access shared mailboxes
  • Task 4 - Create distribution groups
  • Task 5 - Configure distribution groups
  • Task 6 - Create and configure public folders
  • Task 7 - Configure moderation
