The Configuring Virtual Private Networks module provides you with the instructions and devices to develop your hands-on skills in the following topic.
- Managing wireless connections in Windows
- Managing Routing and Remote Access and Network Policy Server
- Configuring Windows VPN client
- Configuring IPsec
The following objectives are covered in this lab.
- Install and configure Routing and Remote Access Server
- Enable Auto-Trigger VPNs in Windows 10
- Configure the IPsec for Routing and Remote Access Server
It will take approximately 95 minutes to complete this lab.
Exercise 1 - Managing Wireless Connections in Windows 10
Windows 10 supports wireless connections over the network. The wireless technology uses radio frequency to transmit data in networks. The wireless connections provide an alternative to wired networks. Wi-Fi is the popular name of the wireless networking technology. The wireless connections must be secured effectively to prevent harmful attacks.
In this exercise, you will manage wireless connections in Windows 10.
Exercise 2 - Managing Routing Remote Access Server and Network Policy Server
Windows Server 2012 includes a network service called Routing and Remote Access Services (RRAS) that supports remote user or site-to-site connectivity by using virtual private networks (VPN) or dial-up connections.
Virtual private networks provides a cost-effective solution to provide anywhere connectivity to remote dial-in users by using the public network as the Internet as the.
Exercise 3 - Configuring Windows VPN Client
All Windows workstations have the capability to dial-in to a VPN server using its native VPN client software.
In the previous exercise, you installed and configured VPN services. To validate the VPN settings that were setup on the server, you will create a VPN client connection using Windows 10.
Exercise 4 - Configuring IPsec
Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) is a set of protocols that provides stronger data encryption as it uses certificates to protect network transmission from being read by protocol analyzers or network monitoring software.
When used with VPN, IPsec encrypts data transfer as connection traverses a public network such as the Internet.
In this exercise, you will configure IPsec for the existing VPN connection.
