Overview

Introduction

The Configuring Name Resolution module provides you with the instruction and server hardware to develop your hands on skills in the defined topics. This module includes the following exercises:

  1. Configure a Domain Name Server

  2. Configure DNS Zone Replication

  3. Configure DNS Server

  4. Configure DNS Server Records

Exercise 1 - Configure a Domain Name Server

In this exercise you will perform the tasks required to install the Domain Name System server role.

Exercise 2 - Configure DNS Zone Replication

In this exercise you will perform the tasks required to enable DNS zone replication between DNS Servers.

Exercise 3 - Configure DNS Server

In this exercise you will configure DNS Servers settings that allow it communicate with external DNS servers like conditional forwarding, root hints and cache only.

Exercise 4 - Configure DNS Server Records

In this exercise you will configure different DNS server records and verify that they work using ping and nslookup.
